CLUB MEMBERSHIP The Disc Golf Club of Northern
Virginia (DCGNV) was
established in 1998 and is a non-profit players’ organization. It is
open to all. Our goal is to organize and promote disc golf within the
Northern Virginia area. Why maintain a formal organization? 1. Interact with Park officials to maintain, improve,
and develop courses, including volunteer efforts. 2. Organize tournaments and events. 3. Affiliate status with PDGA 4. Ability to solicit tax-deductible donations. 5. Promote and expand the sport. What’s involved? We all would like to be
throwing discs every opportunity we have; volunteering to give back to the
sport detracts from that, but who else is going to? 1. We need to build a structure that is not
dependent on a few individuals (a history lesson learned). 2. Spread the responsibility, which should lead to
member pride, benefits, and better courses. What’s at stake? The current carrot
is the opportunity to develop and install a superb championship level
course(s) at Laurel Hill
Park (the old Lorton Prison complex). Without an apparent and strong
organization we will lose out to well-organized groups like the birders,
soccer moms, model airplane/rocket crowd, and many others. To develop a
Laurel Hill Disc Golf facility, the ability to offer tax-deductible
donations/sponsorships may well be necessary. How to Join Submit your 2004 dues and contact information (Dues Structure and Information). |
